This scene is painfully familiar to each of us: in the morning bustle, we frantically search for the car key, but we cannot find it. And everyone who has ever had both hands occupied with shopping bags would wish that by a magic word the car door would open itself. By turning your smartphone into a car key, Bosch will end the tedious search. “Our Perfectly Keyless digital vehicle access system means drivers can do without their traditional keys. This is a great example of stress-relieving connected mobility, says Harald Krueger, Head of Automotive Electronics at Bosch. – As soon as drivers approach their vehicles, their smartphones are identified using built-in sensors. The vehicle then opens without the need to use a physical key. By the same principle, without a key, you can start the engine or lock the car at the end of the road.
Car owners can also use the app to give other drivers permission to use their vehicles. Using technology protected from unauthorized access, an additional virtual key is sent via the cloud to other smartphones. This will allow car sharing (car sharing) service providers and fleet operators to flexibly manage access to keys.
Stress-free and keyless travel
Perfectly Keyless is a digital car key. In order to use it, drivers need to download the application to their smartphones and connect the cars to the application. When all this is done, the smartphone generates a one-time security key that matches the digital lock of the corresponding vehicle. Perfectly Keyless uses a wireless connection to the built-in sensors to measure the distance to the smartphone and identify the security key. When the distance between the driver and the car is less than two meters, the car door opens.
As soon as the car is closed, any preset personal settings (for example, for the rearview mirror and seating position) are automatically activated. If Perfectly Keyless detects that the smartphone is in the car, pressing the activation button is enough to start the engine. When the driver leaves the car at the end of the journey, the system continues to virtually monitor the smartphone. At the moment when the driver with the phone moves away from the car more than two meters, it automatically and safely closes. The system sends a notification to the driver’s smartphone.
Individual key management
Vehicle owners can also use Perfectly Keyless to allow others, such as family or friends, to access their vehicles. Rather than personally handing over the key, parents can simply use the app and share the family car with their children. The system generates an additional individual security key and sends it via the cloud to the smartphone. This is done in order to personalize the settings for each user and make each key unique.
Perfectly Keyless also works for an entire fleet. You can provide access and block users digitally, if desired, taking into account geographic and time constraints. This will enable fleet operators, car rental companies, car sharing (car sharing) providers and businesses in general to manage car keys digitally using the app and the cloud.
